Cornwall's best kept secret: Charlie Bears

The magical world of Charlie Bears is on our doorstep, and the team are inviting the community to join them at The Bearhouse for a very special festive weekend this December.

When Charlie Morris began designing bears 19 years ago, the loyal community of collectors and followers that came together in the years after has been something to marvel at. With more than 2,500 bear designs, and collectors all over the UK, USA, Australia and the rest of the world, Charlie Bears is certainly a huge success story.

With the business celebrating 20 years in 2025, making those connections with the community where the bears are designed and their famous Gallery is based, right here in Launceston, is more important than ever to owners Charlie and William Morris.

Having just held their successful Sparkle Weekend on the 30th November and 1st December, offering incredible deals to get people started on their Christmas shopping, the team at Charlie Bears are now getting ready to throw open their doors for a Christmas Extravaganza: a magical weekend event that will have something for all ages to enjoy.

This is the first of its kind for Charlie Bears. Taking place on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th December, bear lovers will be able to quite literally step into Christmas. Explore the enchanting bear street in the Gallery and start writing your Christmas list as you meet all the bear characters in the Gallery and gift shop. Father Christmas will be on-hand to discuss Christmas wishlists, and his reindeer won’t be too far away either! While snow isn’t promised, the ice rink will certainly add a bit of festive sparkle, and there will be the chance to take part in a Christmas quiz, with Rumpus the bear up for the grabs for one lucky winner.

All of this, and other special events organised at the Bearhouse, are part of Charlie Bears’ commitment to including the community.

Charlie Morris, designer and co-founder of Charlie Bears, said: “As you would expect from a teddy bear company, the fourth quarter—officially known as ‘the run-up to Christmas’—is filled with exciting events at The Bearhouse in Launceston.

“Launceston and Cornwall is our hometown and county, and we take great pride in creating wonderful events for our local community at The Bearhouse. After the success of our Summer Fayre, which was attended by many happy families, we were inspired to do even more. With a sprinkle of magic and a few team meetings, the Cubs at Charlie Bears have organized a truly spectacular Christmas event. On Saturday, December 14th, you can look forward to Santa and his reindeer, games, quizzes, and even an ice rink! The entire team is eagerly anticipating this special day and we hope to see you there!”

The Cubs at Charlie Bears might just have the best jobs in the world, and are excited about welcoming people from Launceston to the Bearhouse this December.

One Cub said: “Charlie Bears is important to the community. Launceston is our home base, so we want to make local people feel included. Everyone always says, ‘it’s Cornwall’s best kept secret’, and we want to share that secret with Launceston.”

You can find Charlie Bears over at the far end of Pennygillam Industrial Estate, and remember to also keep an eye out for their Cuddle Time TV show on YouTube! Father Christmas and the ice rink needs to be booked in advance. Go to Charlie Bears’ Facebook page to see the event pages, or search the event on Eventbrite.

If you can’t make the Christmas Extravaganza, don’t worry as the Gallery is open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm, where you can see a wonderful selection of Charlie Bears and characters in their magical Gallery (there’s even a secret cupboard - will you be able to crack the code and get in?).
