Get ready for Bodmin Carnival this summer!

The organisers of Bodmin Carnival are encouraging people in the community to get involved at this year’s event, which takes place on Saturday, 16th August.

This year’s carnival is set to have even more fun, with plenty of entertainment and activities across town. There will be inflatables in the park, a variety of food and drink stalls in Fairpark and on the Folly, two marching bands in the procession - Bodmin Town Band and Roche Brass - as well as two amazing samba bands, Energia and Samba Kernow, who will liven the crowds with their carnival rhythms. Back by popular demand, Rachel Best will be singing to the waiting crowds at the White Clock.

It is hoped that people will embrace the carnival spirit and get involved in the procession itself. Throw on your jazziest clothes, add a sprinkle of glitter, dress up as your favourite characters or create some weird and wonderful costumes of your own. Bodmin Carnival is looking for procession entries of all kinds, large and small, so let your imagination run wild and join in the fun - it’s free to enter, with 15 classes available!

Entries will gather at Fairpark from 3pm for judging, before taking part in the procession, which commences at 6.45pm and will make its way through town to end up in Priory Park.

Now is the time to start planning your carnival entry, whether you’re an individual, a group of friends, a local club or organisation, or business. To enter, grab an application form from the Bodmin Town Council reception, or email bodmincarnivalcommittee@gmail.com
