Falmouth’s Business Brunch: Fostering Community, Collaboration and Growth

Two female business owners from Falmouth are bringing the town’s business community together with a brunch event that focuses on collaboration and growth.

Laura Bell of Laura Bell Salon and Chantelle Rogers, a social media manager, identified a gap in the local business community two years ago, realising there were little to no events tailored to the needs of business owners like them. It quickly became clear to them that, while their niche needed support, there was a wider need for all types of businesses to come together, share knowledge and build a supportive network.

With this in mind, the pair created the Business Brunch, designed to inspire, educate and connect entrepreneurs. The first event was held at the Three Little Birds in Falmouth, and was an ‘overwhelming success’, welcoming 20 local entrepreneurs eager to learn and network. Local photographer Isabella Banks also attended, and has done ever since, to capture key moments of the events and offering attendees the chance to have a professional headshot taken.

The importance of events that allow people in the business community to connect is something that Laura knows all too well. She told Falmouth Life: “As a business owner myself with over 25 years of experience, I understand the isolation that can come with running a business. That’s why I’m passionate about creating a space where entrepreneurs can resonate with one another, share experiences, and find encouragement. Falmouth has always been a hub of creativity, and we’re proud to see that our events have become a catalyst for the thriving business community here. The diversity of businesses in Falmouth makes it the perfect place to host such events.”

In recent months, gatherings have moved to The Greenbank Hotel, a beautiful venue in Falmouth that has allowed the events to grow to more than 50 entrepreneurs from across the South West.

The event is a chance for business people to network and support each other

Laura added: “We now welcome expert speakers from around the country, who travel to share their knowledge with our community. One of our standout speakers is Gemma Heard, a local accountant who offers Money Mindset motivational talks. Gemma’s approach to the financial side of entrepreneurship is not only relevant, but also fun and engaging – something we all need as we navigate the challenges of running our own businesses.”

The Business Brunch is open to all business owners, whether you’re a small start-up or an established CEO. Tickets include a delicious brunch, refreshments, inspiring speakers who are experts in their fields, and ample networking opportunities. Their next event will be held at the newly renovated Falmouth Hotel.
