Launceston Ladies make history!
The players of Launceston Ladies’ Rugby Team are celebrating after retaining the Women’s Cornwall Cup last weekend.

The team formed in 2019 and entered its first competitive league in 2021. After being ‘second best’ for two years running, it was third time lucky in 2024 when they secured league promotion to National Challenge 1, under the guidance of new head coach Jimmy Tucker.

That year was also the debut of the Women’s Cornwall Cup competition, in which all the women’s teams in Cornwall competed. The Ladies managed to do the double to secure the cup.
This year, the Ladies have battled hard against some extremely tough teams to carve out league promotion for the second consecutive year.

Saturday also saw them retain the Cornwall Cup to do the double again. Promotion to Championship 2 rugby next season means that Launceston Ladies are firmly set in history as the highest ever ranked Cornish Women’s Team.
Launceston Ladies train every Tuesday from 6.45pm. If anyone is interested in joining the team please get in touch with team manager Megan Arnold on 07503727298 or send a message to the Launceston Ladies’ social media.
