Ways to recycle your Christmas tree in Cornwall
Find the best way to recycle your real Christmas tree after the festive season…
Garden Waste Collection
Are you subscribed to Cornwall Council’s garden waste collection service? Then you will be able to leave your tree out with the rest of your garden waste on your next collection date. Those who are not subscribed to this can take their tree to their local household waste and recycling centre, or are advised to look at composting or chipping their tree at home.
Planting Schemes
Blow away the cobwebs after the festive period and head over to one of Cornwall’s beaches holding events to support sand dunes and stop coastal erosion. Beaches in Widemouth and Constantine Bay famously invite people to bring their trees on a set date in early January for volunteer Christmas tree ‘planting’ events. Keep an eye out for more information on upcoming events throughout the festive season by following Widemouth Task Force and Beach Guardian on Facebook.
Reuse a potted tree
This year, why not opt for a potted tree? Make the most of the tree through Christmas and then, once the festive period is over, plant it in your garden so it can be used again year-after-year. It’s an eco-friendly way of enjoying a real Christmas tree!
